The product works great for me.Nov 12, 2006
By N. Santos This item is truly plug and play. No need for drivers or setup unless you want to encrypt the data. The product does go up to 85 mbps as advertised. The problem is that it can only be accomplished by connecting the two units to the same power outlet. I was able to get about 12 mbps from the 1st to 2nd floor. Sometimes it would drop to 1.05 mbps and it would not come back up no matter what I did. I managed to solve the problem by connecting the downstairs PL-100 to an outlet which is closer to the distribution panel using an extension and there are no other appliances connected to it. I am now consistenly getting over 30 mbps. I would have given the item 5 stars but it does not substain good throughput all the time. It varies with the surges that other power drawing appliances can be causing. I had to work around that by finding an isolated outlet which not everyone is going to have. It has been a relief to me with my deadspot wireless problem. I hope the 200 mbps units will deliver more consistenly when they come out.

Powerline rocksJan 10, 2007
By M. Stevens I bought this to upgrade my current powerline adapters from IOGear. I went to powerline connectivity after upgrading my wireless to pre-n and still not having network stability on the fair end of the house. These units are compatible with the IOGear units and actually connecting a little faster speed. When using just the Zyxel units I tripled my speed and gained access back to my outlet as the IOGear units are wall warts. These unit are small and do not heat up as the others did. I would recommend these over wireless if you have a fixed location device that needs network connectivity.

Worked for 1 dayNov 02, 2006

"cd collector"
I bought 2 of these, one was bad out of the box. Got em from J&R (very good service) they replaced it quick. Once I got a working pair, I had a 8-12mbps connection from my 1st floor to the basement for one day. Then I could not get the connection to come back. Called the mfg, they said this is normal in many old houses, especially with whole house surge protection, like mine. Oh well, maybe this will work in other situations, but it was useless for me.

Look for another brand if you want a product that can last longer than 4 monthAug 04, 2007
By Ge N. Li this product works OK when it works. very easy to setup, the speed is decent. I ordered 3 of this to setup my home network. (wifi is not an option for me since i get headache whenever I use wireless devices). I was happy for just about 4 months, and 1 of the 3 drops dead. so if you want something that has a little lasting power, look for another brand. time for me to try out Zyxel's warranty service... Update: Zyxel replaced the defect unit promptly. Good service.
It WorksSep 10, 2009
By Christopher Cashmere I got a pair of these and use them to get "wired Ethernet" to my living room for my Roku and orginal XBOX system, they work great! They are really plug and play, there is nothing to do except plug in the power cord and Ethernet cable.
